Gerry Adams has denied ever being a member of Sinn Fein after the Daily Slabber questioned him on recent embarrassing allegations made by former members of a ‘culture of bullying’ within the party.
“Er, I don’t know why you’re asking me about that as I have never been a member of the Sinn Fein party,” said Mr Adams, the Sinn Fein TD for Louth, when the allegations were put to him. “You’ll have to ask somebody in Sinn Fein about that,” he went on.
When the Slabber put it to him that it could produce photographs and video footage of him “engaging in Sinn Fein activities” such as leading the party, Mr Adams then merely conceded that he may have been “close” to Sinn Fein members in the past and had “an insight into their thinking” but still insisted that he was never a member of that political organisation.
“Look, the reality is that I have been called upon at times to help Sinn Fein move the process forward but still I have never been a member of that party,” said Mr Adams. “Now why don’t you just ‘disappear'”.
